Warisan has identified suitable candidates for various constituencies.
KOTA KINABALU : – Parti Warisan President, Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal, has expressed confidence in the party’s readiness to contest in the upcoming elections.
The party is emphasising its focus on fielding capable candidates and implementing clear plans for Sabah’s development.
Speaking about the preparation of Chinese candidates, Shafie assured that Warisan has identified suitable candidates for various constituencies.
He stressed that the departure of some of the party’s Chinese state assemblymen would not affect the party’s overall strength.
“We have the candidates. What’s important is that we see a lot of interest. In some areas, up to 10 people show interest. However, the Chinese voters, who are mature and discerning, will support leaders who inspire confidence and bring about change,” he said when speaking to reporters during a walkabout at the Gaya Street Sunday fair here this morning.
Shafie highlighted that the Chinese community, both in Sabah and across the nation, is seeking not just good candidates but also meaningful change in areas such as business opportunities and employment.
He also underlined Warisan’s approach to candidate selection, focusing on winnable constituencies to avoid wasting resources.
“We cannot just place candidates for the sake of it. The intention is to secure victories that will empower us to serve the rakyat. Our goal is to provide leadership that aligns Sabah with its rightful development trajectory.”
Shafie criticised the political culture of party-hopping and warned against leaders prioritising personal gains over the people’s welfare. He emphasised the need for political stability and integrity in Sabah.
“We need to elect leaders who will remain committed to their responsibilities. Our focus is not just on winning elections but ensuring that we have clear plans for governance and programs to benefit the rakyat.”
While Shafie did not disclose the exact number of seats Warisan intends to contest, he affirmed that the party is strategically planning its approach to secure areas where it can achieve meaningful victories.
“We have the power to lead and the vision to guide Sabah. When the time comes, we are prepared to execute our plans for the betterment of Sabah and its people.”
Shafie concluded by reiterating Warisan’s mission to prioritise the people’s interests, promising a clear roadmap for Sabah’s development under Warisan’s leadership.
