PKR eyeing to contest, confident of victory in Moyog

Joseph Alex Chang…PKR has the sole right among government-linked parties to contest the Moyog seat.

PENAMPANG : –  Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) believes it can win Moyog in the forthcoming State elections.

The party’s Penampang chairman Joseph Alex Chang is confident given its strong background and history in the district’s political scenario, it has a firm grip as the main contender among government-linked parties to contest the Moyog seat in the next State election.

“While there are other parties also vying to contest the hot seat, Penampang PKR considers itself as the front runner of the pack,” he said.

Joseph said this after the handing over of appointment letters to the bearers of newly appointed Penampang PKR top-level committee members for 2025-2028 session, here recently.

He said it is safe to say that Penampang has the sole right among government-linked parties to contest the seat.

“The party’s deputyPKR president (Nurul Izzah Anwar) has announced that PKR Sabah will be contesting 13 seats in the coming State election and it is safe to say that we will be contesting the Moyog seat,” he said.

PKR Penampang, he said, is far-sighted and will continue to stand firm behind Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

“We pledge to give full support to the party leadership to continue leading this country as Prime Minister,” he said, adding that Anwar is a visionary leader and one of the best Malaysian leader.
Historically, he said Penampang PKR has always maintained the Moyog seat for the party in the past two state elections.

“So, I am urging party members and leaders alike to close rank and start working to maintain our strength and show that Moyog PKR is firm”, he said adding that for the sake of the party, everyone, irrespective of their ranks must remain united.

He reminded the party’ members and supporters to always bear in mind that there is no time lose because the election is just around the corner.

Joseph noted that some party members have been taking a relaxed attitude given less challenging atmosphere after the last election.

“So, from now onwards, we must step up our efforts and ensure that this seat will remain with PKR,” he added.

He said the division has less than a year to prepare for the election and hence it is important to really work cohesively to ensure that Moyog seat remain with PKR.

And he said while it has not been ascertained who among Penampang PKR has been chosen to contest the seat in the election, what is most certain is that PKR will be contesting the seat.

In retrospect, Chang also said that Penampang PKR is confident of delivering the seat for the party.

“But we must work hard to make sure we win the seat,” he stressed.

Chronically, Terrence Siambun won the Moyog seat under the PKR banner in 2013 with a total votes of 7, 462 and majority of 1, 682 votes.

Subsequently, Jennifer Lasimbang, who contested the seat under Warisan but remain as PKR party member won the seat in 2018 with a total votes of 9, 745 and majority of 4, 442.7 votes.
