Murkam…teachers shouldn’t be unnecessarily disturpbed after working hours by school administrators.
TUARAN : – The Sabah Government Teachers’ Union (KGKS) has expressed its full support for the National Union of Teachers in the Public Service (NUTP)’s call for the Ministry of Education (KPM) to come up with specific guidelines regarding instructions communicated through social applications.
KGKS President Gundohing Murkam Hj Hussien stated that clear guidelines are essential to eliminate any confusion surrounding such directives.
He mentioned that this includes instructions sent via WhatsApp and calls to participate in ‘non-urgent’ online meetings outside of working hours.
“We do not want a situation where teachers are unnecessarily disturbed after working hours by school administrators and the District Education Office (PPD), which disrupts the personal lives of the teachers themselves.
“Therefore, KGKS supports NUTP’s call for the Ministry of Education to issue a holistic guideline that is easy to understand,” he said in a statement today.
Murkam hopes that the process of preparing and implementing these guidelines can be expedited for the benefit of all parties, especially the teachers working in Sabah.
Previously, the Ministry of Education had provided guidelines regarding the use of social media among teachers and continuously monitored the situation to ensure it was not misused for specific purposes.
Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek was quoted as saying that teachers should not misuse the platform arbitrarily, and strict action will be taken if they are found to violate the relevant guidelines.
