KOTA KINABALU : – The upgrading of the Kampung Sinulihan-Dambai road in Inanam leading to the Pan Borneo Highway is among the key focuses of the Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (KDM) should they receive the mandate in the upcoming state elections (PRN).
Inanam KDM Chief Datuk George Guntarik said the road upgrade is crucial for alleviating traffic congestion, particularly in the Inanam town area.
“Although there are efforts to address the traffic issues around Inanam town, including the construction of a shortcut from Taipan to the Kionsom road near the Inanam Clinic, these measures are insufficient in the long term.
“Therefore, KDM Inanam believes it is time to upgrade the Sinulihan-Dambai road as an alternative route that can connect to the Pan Borneo Highway (near Kionsom),” he said in a recent social media post.
Guntarik highlighted that one of the advantages of the Sinulihan-Dambai road is that road users will not need to pass through Inanam town to reach several villages near Kg Dambai, such as Kg Kionsom, Pomotodon, and Kitobu.
“In the near future, once the Pan Borneo Highway is completed, the Dambai-Sinulihan road will become an important alternative route for road users travelling from the Menggatal area through Pan Borneo to the main road of Inanam-Kota Kinabalu.
“Currently, the Dambai-Sinulihan road is quite narrow and has certain sections that are already damaged, which is why it is essential to upgrade this road for the comfort and benefit of all parties,” he stated.
Thus, Guntarik hopes that the current state government will expedite the implementation of the Sinulihan-Dambai road upgrade project for the benefit of everyone.
He also expressed concern over the increasingly severe water supply issues, which not only affect the daily lives of residents in the Inanam constituency but also impact the business activities in the Menggatal and Inanam towns.
