Datuk Wetrom…will ensure KDM is part of the Sabah government block after the state elections.
TAMPARULI : The Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (KDM) has revealed three potential candidates who will contest for seats in the State Assembly during the 17th State Election (PRN).
The announcement was made by KDM’s Deputy President, Datuk Wetrom Bahanda, at a gathering with KDM Zon Tenghilan at the SRA Tenghilan Hall on Sunday.
KDM’s Vice President and former Associate Professor at UMS, Dr Gaim James Lunkapis, has been named as the candidate for KDM in the Tamparuli state constituency. This seat is currently held by the Minister of Rural Development of Sabah, Datuk Jahid Jahim.
Also announced as a candidate is the experienced politician and KDM Kota Belud Division Chief, Datuk Almudin Kaida, who will contest in the Pintasan state constituency.
Additionally, the KDM Moyog Coordinator, Mckery Victor, has been identified as a candidate for the Moyog constituency.
“No more delays (the state election is near); we are announcing all three candidates present at this event in Tenghilan today.
“God willing, they will deliver victory for KDM in the upcoming state election. The candidates we are presenting will be a mix of professionals, young leaders, and experienced individuals,” he stated.
Wetrom expressed confidence that ‘with the right timing’, KDM will serve as the backbone of the upcoming state government.
“This is possible if the people, especially KDM supporters, unite,” he stated.
He noted that Sabah is still lagging in development, particularly in road infrastructure compared to other states in Malaysia.
Therefore, Wetrom emphasised that it is time for the people of Sabah to rise and make changes for a better and brighter future ahead.
He mentioned that KDM, which will contest independently, will ensure that the local party is part of the Sabah government block after the state elections.
“This is what the people want, and we will make sure this dream becomes a reality,” he said.
Earlier, in his speech, Dr. Gaim, who is also the Coordinator of KDM Tamparuli, raised several issues faced by the residents of Tenghilan, including water problems, flooding in the town area, and the lack of ATMs for cash withdrawals.
“KDM will strive to rectify these issues if given the mandate in the upcoming state elections,” he added.
