Warisan maintains broad appeal across all ages in a survey

Dr Kanul Gindol…KDM and GRS are emerging contenders, especially among younger and middle-aged voters.

KOTA KINABALU : – This a  public opinion survey done on 490 random Sabahans by Social Activist Dr Kanul Gindol of the multi demographic voters scattered in the interior, west coast and east coast of Sabah, for the period of August 2 to August 22, 2025.

PIS, Black Wave Group and other smaller parties were not included in the survey :

About 60% of the respondents were males.

About 120 respondents for each of the four age categories.

Almost all correspondents responded to indicate leanings.

Those who refused to tell current leanings were eliminated from survey.

Key Insights from the Survey (August 2–22, 2025)

📊 1. Warisan Maintains Broad Appeal Across All Ages
Warisan consistently leads in all age groups, with support ranging from 33% to 36%.
Its strongest base is among ages 50–64 (36%), suggesting strong loyalty among middle-aged voters.
Even among the youngest voters (18–29), Warisan holds a plurality (34%), indicating cross-generational appeal.

🟧 2. KDM Gains Ground Among Younger and Middle-Aged Voters
KDM performs best among ages 30–49 (20%), showing potential growth in the working-age demographic.
Support is relatively stable across other age groups, hovering around 17–20%.

🔵 3. Umno/BN Strongest Among the Oldest Voters
Umno/BN sees its highest support from ages 65+ (28%), suggesting a traditionalist or legacy voter base.

It struggles with younger voters, especially ages 30–49 (17%), where it ranks fourth.

🔴 4. GRS Popular Among Ages 30–49
GRS peaks at 24% in the 30–49 age group, possibly due to its governance role or regional influence.

However, its support drops significantly among the 65+ group (12%), indicating weaker appeal among older voters.

🔷 5. PH Remains Marginal Across All Groups
PH consistently polls the lowest, with support between 5–8%.

Its highest support is among the 65+ group (8%), but it remains a minor player in Sabah’s political landscape.

📌 Overall Observations
Warisan is the dominant party across all age groups, suggesting it remains a central force in Sabah politics.

KDM and GRS are emerging contenders, especially among younger and middle-aged voters.

Umno/BN retains strength among older voters but may need to modernize its appeal.
PH faces challenges in gaining traction and may need to reassess its strategy in Sabah.
