Former Sabah Umno veteran Sairin Karno handing over his membership application to Shafie Apdal.
KOTA KINABALU : – Sabah Umno veterans chairman Datuk Haji Sairin Karno has joined Warisan, leading 30 other members of his former party in defecting.
Sairin handed his membership application form to Warisan president Datuk Seri Psnglima Shafie Apdal at a press conference here on Wednesday., saying he believed in the party’s struggle and vision for the state.
“I see Warisan as being the only party that truly fights for the rights and future of Sabahans, regardless of background,” he said.
Sairin, a former assistant minister, was the Liawan assemblyman for three terms from 2004 to 2018.
He failed to defend the seat in the 2018 general election, losing to Warisan’s Rasinin Kautis by 1,382 votes.
Also joining Warisan today were Ranau Bersatu Youth chief Haris George and 50 other party members, as well as Parti Bersatu Sabah’s former Karanaan division head, Danis Biuk.
