SANDAKAN : – The Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) is witnessing a significant influx of younger members, a trend party leaders attribute to its unwavering focus on Sabah’s rights under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).
The party’s growing appeal was on full display at its Letat Jaya office on Oct 12, where ten new members—a diverse mix of five Bumiputera and five Chinese applicants aged from their 20s to 40s—formally joined its ranks.
Following the ceremony, briefing sessions were conducted for the new members by vice president Thomas Lau Chi Keong and CLC Tg. Papat vice chairman, Henley Liew.
In his address, Lau underscored the party’s commitment to its core causes.
“Our resilience and consistency in fighting for MA63, autonomy, and the Sabah IC issue are not just political rhetoric; they are a promise to the people,” he stated.
“This is why Sabahans, especially the younger generation who are the future of this state, are placing their faith in SAPP. They see that we are the party that will not compromise on the rights and privileges that are rightfully Sabah’s.”
Lau highlighted that this multi-ethnic, cross-generational support is a healthy sign for the local party. SAPP has successfully cultivated awareness around key state issues, building public confidence in its struggle.
“We believe in these causes and will never give up fighting for the people of Sabah,” Lau said, welcoming the new applicants to the Sandakan Zone.
