Pahang Exco among 10 killed in Elmina crash

PETALING JAYA (Thu Aug 17): Pahang executive councillor Johari Harun was among the eight people killed on board the plane that crashed near Elmina Selangor, Thursday.

The Free Malaysia Today reported that Johari, the state local government, environment and green technology executive councillor, was also the Pelangai assemblyman and Bentong Umno chief. He was 53.

His death was confirmed by Pahang state assembly speaker Sharkar Shamsudin in a Facebook post.

“Johari was in the plane that crashed at Elmina, Shah Alam. May God bless his soul. Al-Fatihah,” said Sharkar.

Earlier, police said 10 people were killed in the aircraft crash, including eight on board the plane.

The driver of a car and a motorcyclist were also killed after being hit by the crashing plane.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) said there were six passengers and two crew members on board the plane.

CAAM said the Subang air traffic control tower observed smoke coming from the crash site at 2.51pm but the plane had not made a Mayday call.
