Sandakan and Tawau needs additional air flight – Robert Chong

SANDAKAN: Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) Vice President Robert Chong urged the Minister of Transport Anthony Loke to look into the required additional air flight between Sandakan and Tawau.

Chong lamented that Sandakan netizents are in a disadvantage in wanted to fly to Tawau and return. He reckoned that there is only one flight to Tawau and return per day.

The time schedule is at 10.40 am and return at 11.40 am to Sandakan.

“Where is the bilateral communication between the two township? Some may need to go for meeting at 9am but due to the one schedule operation, they need to stay in Tawau for 2 to 3 days, ” he said in a statement today.

Chong said some may take the alternative flight from Sandakan to kk then to Tawau. The only flight company operating on these route is Maswing.

Chong hoped that the minister can feel the desire of Sandakan netizents the need to add extra flight or inviting Airasia to take up the route.

“When comparing flight schedule of Kota Kinabalu to Tawau, we may felt left out due to heavy air traffic going to Tawau from Kota Kinabalu.”

“Should these flight schedule increases then potential local tourism and business connection will definately increase. Any increment will lead to a better prospect and bilateral communication, ” he added.

He also further stressed that the ministry need to look into the high pricing during holidays and weekend flight.

“We need to encourage our local to travel local inter state inorder to help to boost local economy. We hope that the minister of transport will look into the plight of Sandakan netizents, ” Chong said
