SANDAKAN : The Sandakan Scouts Headquarters and St. Michael’s School in Sandakan held the annual JOTA-JOTI event from October 18 to 20, 2024, with the theme “Scouts Creating a Green World.”
This event is an international scouting and guiding activity organized by the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) and takes place on the third weekend of October each year.
This year, 130 scouts from nine schools participated, along with 17 scout assistants and several scout leaders.
A variety of games and competitions were prepared for the scouts, who successfully communicated with scouts from 41 countries, including Italy, Taiwan, India, South Korea, Africa, and Canada, deepening their understanding and friendships.
The Scout Night on October 20 was also a great success, with each school presenting traditional dances for competition, creating a lively atmosphere.
The closing ceremony was officiated by Barmuli Parudin, State Assistant Commissioner, who highlighted the importance of scouting activities in enhancing communication skills and building self-confidence.
He expressed hope that such exchange activities would continue in the future
