KOTA KINABALU : -The 20th Malaysian Forestry Conference 2024 (MFC-20), established in 1966, is held every two years, rotating among the three forestry regions.
Forestry Department of Peninsular Malaysia (JPSM), Sabah Forestry Department (SFD) and Forest Department Sarawak (FDS).
“This year, it is the Sabah Forestry Department’s turn to host the MFC-20 at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) from 29th – 30th October 2024, ” a Sabah Forestry Department spokesman said in a statement Friday.
The conference theme “Harmonizing Forestry Towards Sustainability”.
MFC-20 focuses on critical forestry issues such as policy and governance framework;
international cooperation and partnership; climate change mitigation and adaptation;
biodiversity conservation; plantation in forest and beyond; and community involvement and stakeholder engagement.
There will be 3 keynotes and 24 papers presented from the three forestry regions to share their findings and insights on forestry-related matters from the respective regions.
In addition, an exhibition will also be set up from 29th – 30th October 2024 at SICC to showcase various forestry initiatives and efforts undertaken since the previous MFC-19.
