A Celebration of Hope, Joy, and Generosity in the Spirit of Christ
SANDAKAN: – As Christmas draws near, churches across Sandakan are lighting up with decorations, laughter, and a renewed sense of love and community spirit.
This season encourages all to reconnect with the true essence of Christmas: a celebration of hope, joy, and generosity. It’s a time for reflection on the profound message of peace and goodwill that Christ’s birth brought to the world.
In line with this spirit, the Sandakan Interchurch Committee’s Executive Committee (EXCO) led by its Chairman, Archdeacon Lidis Singkung recently paid a courtesy visit to Datuk Frankie Poon Ming Fung, ADUN Tanjung Papat, at his office in Sandakan.
The purpose of the visit was to invite him to officiate the opening ceremony of the Sandakan Interchurch Christmas 2024 celebration, themed “In Times Like This.”
The event is set to take place on Dec 1, at Dewan SMJK Tiong Hua beginning at 7pm.
Frankie expressed his enthusiasm for the event and extended a heartfelt call to the Christian community in Sandakan, encouraging everyone to attend.
“Christmas is more than a celebration; it is a season that truly reflects the joy, peace, and love that binds us together,” he said.
“I urge the Sandakan Christian community to gather and share in this meaningful time, to carry the light of compassion into the coming year.”
This year’s theme, “In Times Like This,” resonates deeply with the community’s need for hope and unity amid challenging times.
The Sandakan Interchurch Committee welcomes everyone to join in the evening’s celebrations, as they unite in a joyful reflection of the true spirit of Christmas.
The Christian community in Sandakan is warmly invited to attend this special event, which promises to be a memorable evening of worship, joy, and fellowship.
