Transparency and accountability are core values of GRS – Joniston

KOTA KINABALU : – Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) will not be sidetracked by recent claim of wrongdoing allegedly involving its assemblymen.

GRS information chief Datuk Joniston Bangkuai said that if the allegations are an attempt to discredit GRS, they will not weaken the coalition’s commitment to serving the people.

He said it should be noted that Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, who is also GRS chairman, has already called on the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to investigate the matter thoroughly.

The Chief Minister had also assured that the GRS-led government will provide full cooperation as it has nothing to hide.

“If the allegations are intended to distract us (the GRS-led government), why should we allow it to derail us?” Joniston said.

He added that transparency and accountability are core values of GRS, which will continue to uphold these principles.

With state elections approaching next year, Joniston said that such allegations raises questions if they are intended at tarnishing GRS’s achievements.

“Despite the noise, GRS remains focused on what truly matters, which is advancing Sabah and improving the lives of its people,” he said.
