Vivian…MACC must prioritise the ‘mining scandal’ case and ensure it is handled with transparency and integrity.
SANDAKAN : – It has been a month since the scandal involving several Sabah state assemblymen was first exposed by Malaysiakini on 9 November 2024.
DAP Sabah secretary Vivian Wong said the party has been closely monitoring developments related to this matter and views the recent release of recordings with utmost seriousness.
“DAP Sabah fully supports the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in conducting a thorough and impartial investigation,” she said in a statement today.
The Sandakan MP said DAP urged MACC to prioritise this case and ensure it is handled with transparency and integrity.
She pointed out that Sabah’s resources are precious assets that belong to the people of Sabah and future generations.
DAP has consistently championed the prioritisation of Sabah’s mineral resources for downstream industries to maximize their value.
According to Vivian, Tlthis commitment is evident in the efforts of DAP Sabah Chairman and Minister of Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship, Phoong Jin Zhe.
“We acknowledge and appreciate the decisive actions taken by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Haji Noor in ensuring that no mining licenses are issued.”
“It is a relief that extraordinarily amount of natural resources has been secured for Sabah’s benefit,” she added
Vivian stressed that the party’s stance remains firm: – DAP being part of the government opposes corruption in any form and believe in justice fair investigation.
