KOTA KINABALU: Forty Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) high-achieving students will be awarded the Sabah State Scholarship Award of Excellence (ABCNS), the highest academic recognition in the State.

The 34th annual award will be presented by the Chief Minister cum Chairman of the Yayasan Sabah Board of Trustees, Datuk Seri Hajiji Haji Noor on Tuesday, (Aug 1), at the Auditorium Tun Ahmad Raffae, Menara Tun Mustapha.

Yayasan Sabah Director Dato’ Sri Gulamhaidar @ Yusof Khan Bahadar said the ABCNS is a prestigious award given by the State Government through the Yayasan Sabah Group to outstanding Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) students.

He also highlighted that ABCNS is a driving force for students to strive for excellence in their academic pursuits.

Yayasan Sabah Group urges students to seize the opportunity to pursue and excel in education to secure a job placement in the market.

“To all recipients, I hope they will use this opportunity and not let it go to waste. They are the chosen ones among thousands of students. As the award celebrates students’ accomplishments, I hope they will continue to work hard to develop into well-rounded individuals capable of meeting the needs of the current job market,” he said in a statement Sunday.

“Thus, I believe the award will serve as an impetus to produce not only academically brilliant students but also responsible individuals who contribute positively to society,” he added.

To date, 484 recipients of ABCNS have completed their studies, while another 213 are still studying.

“With another 40 students receiving the award this year, the ABCNS recipients will be pursuing various courses from a wide field of studies aligning with their career goals and the rapidly changing knowledge-based economy,” said Gulamhaidar
