KOTA KINABALU : Sabah UMMO Chief Datuk Seri Bung Mokhar Radin said Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan should have chosen to form the state government with the local party Warisan after the 2018 state election, if the STAR president truly adhered to the principle of the slogan “Sabah for Sabahan” that he is currently proclaiming.
On the contrary, Bung said Jeffrey at that time chose to join the Malaya Barisan Nasional (BN) party and rejected the local Warisan party.
“I want to tell Dr. Jeffrey Kitingan why in the 2018 election, the local party Warisan got 29 seats and BN got 29 seats, you did not support Warisan and why you supported the Malaya party BN.”
“If we think ‘Sabah for Sabahan’, Dr. Jeffrey should have chosen Warisan and rejected the Malaya party Barisan Nasional outrightly,”
“Dr. Jeffrey is really ‘tembirang’… if he want to debate with me, can have it anywhere,” he said in his latest social media post.
Bung commented on the statement by the Deputy Chief Minister of Sabah, Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan, who defended the slogan ‘Sabah For Sabahan’ (Sabah for the People of Sabah), which he described as a legitimate stance for political dignity, constitutional integrity, and the historical truth of Sabah.
Jeffrey responded to the Deputy Prime Minister’s call, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who stated that the slogan “Sabah For Sabahans” should not be raised ahead of the 17th State Election (PRN17).
The Chairman of BN said that the sentiment is not in line with the aspirations of the Unity Government, which prioritises inclusivity among political parties and close cooperation between state and federal governments.
