KDM to improve well-being of more than 100,000 Penampang’s residents

McKery Victor… focus on what can be resolved immediately.

PENAMPANG : – The Moyog Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (KDM) candidate wants to focus on five urgent matters to help resolve and improve the well-being of more than 100,000 residents of this district.

Ts McKery Victor Ninin, however, said they do not need to over-promise unrealistic things but focus on what can be resolved immediately.

The five focus are improving:-
*  community healthcare
*  infrastructure and safety
* establishing Moyog Disaster
   Volunteer Squad to deal with
   floods
  * youth and entrepreneurship
    job opportunity, and
* education and digital future.

“If given a mandate by the people of Moyog, I will focus on five initiative of our manifestos that are planned practically, based on the real needs of the people and local strengths,” he said at the manifesto launch ceremony after the nomination of candidates ended at the Cultural Centre here on Saturday.

Mckery saw the need to further strengthen programs such as mobile clinics and free health screening programs throughout the village.

This program will also offer basic health services that are easily accessible, especially for the elderly and B40 families.

“We will also strengthen community health awareness campaigns to prevent diseases and promote healthy lifestyles,” he said, adding that this can be done easily because he was once a member of the Penampang Health panel.

The second focus is to improve the most basic facilities in the infrastructure but which are among the most complained about by the public.

Moyog KDM said Mckery, will implement a regular drainage and sewer cleaning project using local contractors.

The problem of clogged or unmaintained drains is among the most received complaints.

“We will establish a Moyog Disaster Volunteer Squad to deal with floods, landslides and emergencies. I don’t think this squad exists in Moyog yet and after natural disasters such as floods and landslides occurred recently, we found that the communication breakdown occurred due to a lack of coordination between villagers and the frontline security forces.

“This squad will help mobilize volunteers to disaster-stricken areas immediately before the arrival of security forces such as the police and fire brigade. We learn from past weaknesses,” he explained.

Mckery is confident that this can be done because of his background as an engineer and technology expert in the field for over 20 years.

“We no longer want to just talk about old problems but want to solve them with concrete actions,” he added.

He has high hopes for the progress of the youth and entrepreneurs in Moyog because for him, the youth of Moyog are the future and the driving force of the local economy through various routes.

Among them are holding basic entrepreneurship courses and small capital assistance schemes for youth and women.

They will also create a monthly Moyog market to sell villagers produce, local food and creative products.

KDM Moyog wanted youth in the district to not just as job seekers, but opportunity creators.

This he said can be done by strengthening the village economy through the promotion of homestays and Agro-Tourism Zones as community tourism attractions.

“We want every village in Moyog to be productive and self-sufficient, not just waiting for assistance, but building the future with their own strength,” said Mckery.

The fifth focus is education, skills and a digital future which according to Mckery is very important to create a progressive and dynamic future for Moyog in Sabah.

He said this is done by making sure enough quality education and living skills by adding TVET centres and community colleges in the district.

“Practical skills courses such as automotive, electrical, welding, culinary, hairdressing, modern agriculture and fashion and re-skilling and up-skilling programmes for adults who want to increase their knowledge or change fields will be given focus.

“We want Moyog to be a centre for the advancement of knowledge and technology for Sabah. We will establish the Moyog Digital Centre as a centre for training and local technology innovation,” he said.

According to Mckery, this struggle is not the struggle of one person but the struggle of all for the sake of the next generation.
