Lampoodalooza set to light up the city Feb 2

KOTA KINABALU: Brought to you by Sabah Tourism Board, LAMPOOPALOOZA is set to light up the city on February 2, 2024.

This year, the festival promises an extraordinary fusion of art and light, featuring a laser light show projected on the Sabah Tourism Board (STB) building, according to a STB statement today.

It will mesmerise display of lit-up water tank installation powered by solar, and glow art by local artists, symbolizing both artistic innovation and a commitment to social responsibility.

Taking STB’s commitment to community empowerment a step further by incorporating sustainable energy solutions, the festival will feature solar panels strategically placed to power the lit-up water tanks.

Post event, these solar panels will be donated to Kampung Timpayasa located at Ulu Papar, ensuring a lasting impact on the village by providing renewable energy to light up the village and power essential facilities.

At the moment, the only source of electricity in Kampung Timpayasa is through the villagers’ own small solar PV system.

Water tanks will also be donated to a few villages which will be identified later. This initiative is a collaboration with Japson Wong and TONIBUNG.

Lampooopalooza is also proud to announce a collaboration with Sabah Art Gallery and two local artists Azlan Dulikab and Rosmaini Sunarjo, bringing the talents of local artists to the forefront.

There will be a section to showcase an array of glow-in-the-dark paintings that come to life as the sun sets.

Visitors will be treated to a unique visual experience that blurs the lines between traditional art and the luminous possibilities of light.

Following the festival, these Glow Art will be handed to Sabah Art Gallery to be donated to a few rural schools of their choice.

Lampoopalooza is also excited to work with the Malaysia Association of Hotels to showcase the culinary offerings of hotels in the city through pop-up stalls.

A feast for the senses as visitors explore the luminous installation and vibrant artworks.

This year’s Lampoopalooza showcases light installations, music, food, family-friendly activities, and a dedication to community empowerment which will be held on 2nd February 2024 (Friday) from 6:30pm to 11:00pm along Gaya Street from the Sabah Tourism Board office to the end of the HSBC Bank block.

More information on the event is updated on the Lampoopalooza event page on Facebook. -Talantang
