Aaron, Ewon in MA63 panel restructuring plan

KUCHING: Representatives from Sarawak and Sabah, two of them federal ministers, have been proposed to be included in the Implementation Action Council on the 1963 Malaysia Agreement.

The New Sarawak Tribune reported that Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof announced this here today,

Fadillah said Minister of National Unity, Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang and Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Datuk Ewon Benedick are among the names proposed as members of the committee.

“The restructuring of the committee is a result of an absence of a portfolio in the Prime Minister’s Department (Sabah, Sarawak Affairs and Special Functions) following the cabinet reshuffle last December.

“Although I am from Sarawak myself, I need someone from Sarawak to be in the technical committee. In the past, we had a minister, but now there is no deputy minister and no minister responsible for special functions and affairs of Sabah and Sarawak.

“Therefore, if I am not in parliament to answer questions, especially specific ones, then Aaron will assist in answering in parliament,” he said.

He said this to reporters after a Chinese New Year contribution handing over ceremony at the SUPP Sungai Tengah Hall, here on Saturday.

The event saw Fadillah, who is also Energy Transition and Public Utilities Minister, and his wife Datin Seri Ruziah Mohd Tahir presenting contributions to the elderly and persons with disabilities.

Fadillah, who is Petra Jaya MP said the restructuring is expected to be completed this month, and the draft will be presented at a cabinet meeting.

“The draft is ready; it just needs to be included and distributed. There is a process, and we hope it can be completed in February,” he added.

Also present was Tupong assemblyman Fazruddin Abdul Rahman.
