KUALA LUMPUR: The move to review the salary structure of civil servants is expected to also include a review of emoluments received by police personnel.

Deputy Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Shamsul Anuar Nasarah said that the salaries and allowances for policemen were still low and considered insufficient, especially for those residing in urban areas.

He was responding to during minister’s time in the Dewan Rakyat.

He added that a request had been submitted to the Public Service Department (PSD) to review the matter.

ā€œThe government, with PSD, are conducting a study on the salary structure for civil servants, including for policemen, which includes cost of living allowances.

ā€œWe realise that the rate (of emoluments) is low compared with the increasing cost of living, especially in major cities such as Kuala Lumpur.”

ā€œFor example, the allowance for cost of living is provided based on their location, which ranges from RM200 to RM35O per month.”

ā€œHence, the ministry has submitted a request to PSD to assess the matter,ā€ he said. – PDRMsia_Official
