“PRN is time to advance pathetic political menu”

CC Pung
Justice of Peace , Tokoh Wartawan Sabah and Labuan. Dose of philosophical musings.

As the state election approaches, Sabah political parties  are understandably all scheming either to advance whatever pathetic political menu.

In power is the coalition of Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) who has, among its allies, Perikatan Nasional (PN).

Admittedly, I have lost interest in the GRS goings-on and can’t confidently identity all the members.

But I do know that while GRS declared its support for the Anwar Ibrahim ‘unity government’ at the Federal level, it is in bed with PN which is Anwar’s mortal enemy in Putrajaya.

It doesn’t sound right or moral. But then what do I know?

PN’s core strength is the radical islamist party PAS whose brand of fundamentalism is deemed unsavory in Sabah where multiracialism and multi culturalism are more rooted than PAS bastion in Peninsular Malaysia.

PAS has one of its men appointed as a nominated member of the Sabah State Assembly.

It’s an appointment that sickens me. But that’s a subject for another time.

Suffice to say that only liars can rationalise that appointment.

Back to the impending elections. A new kind of political partnership is being tossed about.

All sorts of words like coalition alliance, partnership, etc have been coined but nothing lasted.

The new term is called ‘confederation’. No, I haven’t checked for its meaning or legal implications, if any.

I just dismissed it as another attempt at deceptively packaging the standard rotten political menu with semantics.

It’s like Trump’s ‘Make America Great again’ which is redundant because any greatness America possesses will be in full display if and when politicians and government are  not sick and rotten.

Anwar calls his govt ‘Madani.

No. I dont care to know what it means. His officers even came out with ‘Madani Rice’ as if trying to portray themselves as having reinvented the wheel.

We can recall that every prime minister before Anwar also called their government this or that and swore by some noble sounding slogans.

Well, 61 years of much sloganeering, we’re pretty much still where we started.

We are pathetic and clearly loving it.

So, call yourself a confederation or use some obscure words from the Holy books, or whatever.

It doesn’t matter. Didn’t Najib take his oath on the Quran to serve Malaysia as its leader? What did he do?
