KOTA KINABAL:  PKR has appointed several new state chiefs in a reshuffle, which saw
Sabah state chief Sangkar Rasam replaced by Sepanggar MP Datuk Mustapha Sakmud.

The new State PKR chief is also Federal Deputy Minister of Higher Education.

In the resuffle also involved
deputy president Rafizi Ramli removed from his posts in the Federal Territories and Johor.

The reshuffle involved seven states comprising Sarawak, Sabah, Pahang, Johor, Terengganu, Kelantan and the Federal Territories, following the appointment of new leadership in six other states last February.

Datuk Azman Abidin, who serves as political secretary to prime minister and PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, will now lead in the Federal Territories, while Ledang MP Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh takes over in Johor.

Azman will be assisted by Kepong branch chief Jayakumar R. Muniandy as deputy.

In Kelantan and Terengganu, party vice-president Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad has been relieved of his duties. Tanah Merah branch chief Datuk Seri Mohamad Suparadi Noor will now lead in Kelantan, and Kemaman branch chief Ahmad Nazri Yusof will head the Terengganu chapter.

Deputy Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Fuziah Salleh has been appointed as the new Pahang PKR chief, succeeding party vice-president Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.

However, Amirudin will continue leading the Selangor chapter.

In a statement Sunday, PKR information chief Fahmi Fadzil said the changes were made by the party’s central leadership committee.

In Sarawak, Baram branch chief Roland Engan has been appointed as chairman, while Santubong branch chief Ahmad Nazib Johari has been named deputy chairman.

This changes in Sabah follows Sangkar’s refusal to resign despite a request from 15 of the 26 division chiefs in Sabah.

Fahmi, who is also communications minister and the government’s spokesperson, also said the PKR leadership discussed the coming by-election for the Sg Bakap state seat in Penang, following the recent passing of PAS’ assemblyman Nor Zamri Latiff.

Fahmi said several issues were addressed during the meeting, including the humanitarian crisis and conflict in Gaza and Anwar’s peace efforts. –  Scoop
