KOTA KINABALU : In response to the recent devastating floods that have impacted numerous families in Penampang, Layang-Layang Aerospace Sdn Bhd has taken a proactive approach to alleviate the burdens of the affected victims.

The aerospace company conducted a commendable flood relief mission in three key areas of Penampang on Tuesday, showcasing a remarkable display of community support and solidarity.

The relief efforts were made possible through the generous donations of various local companies, organizations, and concerned individuals, reflecting a united front in times of crisis.

Managing Director Hj Johan Poong Abdullah @ Albert expressed gratitude for the overwhelming public support, highlighting the continuous influx of donations that poured in since Monday.

Utilizing their 9M-LLH helicopter, Layang-Layang Aerospace efficiently delivered essential food and relief goods to the areas of Moyog, Inobong, and Kebabaik.

The company’s headquarters in Tanjung Aru (Old Airport Terminal) buzzed with activity as staff diligently received and organized the donated items for distribution.

Johan emphasized the possibility of extending the flood relief mission if the areas remain impassable in the coming days, underscoring the company’s commitment to aiding the community during times of crisis. Despite the challenges posed by adverse weather conditions, Layang-Layang Aerospace remains resolute in its mission to assist flood victims and provide much-needed relief.

The successful distribution of relief goods was evident as major roads in the affected areas became passable by Tuesday noon.

Residents, including school teachers and children from SK St Paul in Kg Kolopis, were among the first to receive the essential items as the helicopter landed in the school’s open space.

The presence of photojournalist CV Chong and Daily Express added to the significance of the relief efforts, capturing the heartwarming moments of solidarity and support.

The relief goods, ranging from mineral water and baby formula to clothing and diapers, symbolize the collective efforts of the community to stand together in times of adversity. Johan reiterated that the flood relief mission exemplifies Layang-Layang Aerospace’s dedication to serving the community, especially during calamities and emergencies.

As the district begins to recover from the aftermath of the floods, Layang-Layang Aerospace’s humanitarian gesture serves as a beacon of hope and compassion in Penampang, inspiring unity and resilience in the face of adversity.
