Residents of Kg Masolog waiting in vain for 60 years to access clean water

Jimson…No clean water supply since Sabah’s independence over 60 years.

KOTA MARUDU: Situated just 12 kilometers from Kota Marudu township and yet Kampung Mosolog is yet to enjoy clean water.

Numerous appeals from the residents  for access to clean water from the Sabah Water Department fell on deaf ears.

Social activist and Kota Marudu former assistant education district officer Jimson Majemal said there are still no signs that their long-held dream will be realised in the near future.

“So near and yet so far—residents of Kg Masolog waiting in vain for 60 years to access clean water, ” he said in a statement today.

According to Jimson, who is  from Tandek,  Kampung Masolog has not received a clean water supply since Sabah’s independence over 60 years ago, despite being only 12 kilometres away from Kota Marudu town

He noted that the village is equipped with various facilities established by the government, including SK Masalog school, a community clinic, and a multipurpose hall.

He pointed out that there are also buildings such as a Rela centre, Kemas kindergarten, a mosque, a village hall, a church, food stalls, grocery stores, and paved roads.

“It is perplexing that a village so close to Kota Marudu town has yet to enjoy clean water from the Water Department.”

“Many residents believe that waiting over 60 years is excessively long, and they question why their village remains neglected, especially when substantial rural development allocations are provided to Sabah each year,” Jimson added.

He hopes that the Madani government led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will give due attention to the appeals of the Kampung Masolog residents.

He also expressed hope that  Federal Minister and UPKO president Datuk Ewon Benedick will assist in bringing this issue up to the relevant ministry for the betterment of the community’s future.
