Bersatu  is ‘not dead’, still exists in Sabah – hints at contesting 18 seats in PRN17

Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin also hinted that informal discussions with local leaders had been held.

KOTA KINABALU : – Perikatan Nasional (PN) has not ruled out the possibility of contesting 18 seats in the 17th Sabah state election, said Bersatu deputy president Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin.

Hamzah, who is currently in the Jelajah Bersatu series in Sabah, said PN had previously won 11 of the 18 seats contested in the 16th Sabah state election.

“If you allow us to do it (to contest 18 seats), why not?” he said.

Hamzah said this at a press conference after completing the Sabah Bersatu Tour 2025 at Padang Taman Sepanggar, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah yesterday.

He is scheduled to visit several districts in the next two days.

The programme was also attended by Bersatu vice-president and Sabah Bersatu chief Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee.

The current state government’s term of administration administered by Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor will end in October 2025.

Meanwhile, Hamzah, when commenting on the tour, said there was evidence that Bersatu was still an active party in Sabah and rejected the claim that it was ‘non-existent’.

“We have been preparing for almost five years.

“Because many of the GRS (Gabungan Rakyat Sabah) leaders say that Bersatu no longer exists. Today, it (the tour program) shows that we can not only gather our members but also be able to see supporters who are not our members.

– scoop.my
