Hajiji calls for unity to advance further and maintain the bonds of brotherhood in Sabah

KOTA KINABALU: The variety of ethnicities and religions does not create divisions; rather, it contributes to the establishment of a harmonious society in this state.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor emphasised that Sabah’s strength lies in its rich diversity of ethnic groups, religions, traditions, and languages.

He called for unity to advance further and maintain the bonds of brotherhood in Sabah.

“The year 2025 marks the final phase of the Sabah Maju Jaya Development Plan 1.0, covering the period from 2021 to 2025.

“If given another mandate, we will proceed with the SMJ 2.0 direction from 2026 to 2030,” he said in his message for the Chinese New Year 2025.

Hajiji acknowledged that the SMJ framework has successfully transformed and improved Sabah’s economic performance.

“This progress follows a downturn caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. We express our gratitude to the Chinese community for their support in developing this state.

“As Chief Minister, I assure that the welfare of the people, including the Chinese community, will remain a priority,” Hajiji explained.

He expressed hope that this year brings hope, strength, happiness, and good health, along with greater prosperity.

“We are grateful that the Chinese community will celebrate the Chinese New Year this year, the Year of the Snake.

“It is particularly special as it is celebrated in an atmosphere of peace, harmony, and joy,” Hajiji added.

He extended his wishes for a Happy Chinese New Year, Gong Xi Fa Cai, to all members of the Chinese community and those celebrating in the state.
