KDM will continue to fight for the people of Sabah

Datuk Wetrom Bahanda… All plans laid out by the President will proceed, including our efforts in the upcoming PRN 17.

KOTA KINABALU : – The Deputy President of KDM, Datuk Wetrom Bahanda, has called on all supporters of the local party across Sabah to remain calm and continue their unwavering support for KDM.

This appeal comes in the wake of the Kuala Lumpur Court of Appeal’s decision to reject the appeal of KDM President, Datuk Peter Anthony, regarding his conviction and sentence previously imposed by the Sessions Court, which includes a three-year prison term and a fine of RM50,000.

“While it is true that all KDM supporters and leaders are disappointed with this ruling, it does not signify the end of our party’s struggle. On the contrary, we are more determined than ever to continue our fight for the welfare of the community and the future of Sabah,” he said in a statement today.

Wetrom emphasised that KDM will not retreat even a single step; instead, the party will persist in its mission to advocate for the people of Sabah.

“All plans laid out by the president and the top leadership of the party will proceed, including our efforts in the upcoming 17th State Election (PRN17),” he added.

Wetrom affirmed that he, along with the top leadership and all KDM leaders at every level, will continue to fight alongside the people of Sabah.

“We have faced numerous challenges, including the events of today, and we will confront any obstacles and challenges that lie ahead for the sake of our beloved state,” he said.

Wetrom has announced that a meeting of the KDM supreme council will be held in the near future to discuss the party’s direction moving forward.

Meanwhile, according to records, the President of PKR (Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in the past) and the former President of UMNO (Datuk Seri Najib Razak) have both faced imprisonment; however, both PKR and UMNO continue to remain relevant and even grow stronger in the political arena of the country.

Similarly, the president of PBS (Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan) was fined RM1,800 for corruption, yet PBS has persisted and remains active to this day.
