Borneo Aspiration: All minded leaders should now have an opened link to Dr Jeffrey

Kalakau…Jeffrey’s action has taken the bull by the horn, both in formula and practicality.

KOTA KINABALU : – Datuk Kalakau Untol said for the first time Kuala Lumpur leaders are taken to the test of Sabahan aspiration.

The United Sabah Dusun Association (USDA) Deputy President called the move a bold Borneo Aspiration of a brave Sabah leader.

Kalakau was commenting on Sabah Star president Datuk Seri Panglima Dr Jeffrey Kitingan who had unveiled a-two-track strategy for the ruling Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) to enter the upcoming State elections.

In a statement yesterday, Dr Jeffrey said GRS as it prepares for the looming state election, he laid out what he described as the coalition’s current options.

Option one is all the seats to be contested by GRS.

Option two is GRS Plus — that means we allocate those seats to our allies.

He said the political dynamics is getting clearer  by the day.

Kalakau, a former Member of Parliament for Tuaran, opined that reading deep into what Dr Jeffrey said is that he (Dr Jeffrey) favours Sabah-based political parties to spearhead the coalition into the State elections.

“Based on Dr Jeffrey’s statement, I can forsee the possible scenario of the coming election, ” he said

According to Kalakau, there are three possible scenarios for Sabah’s political landscape in the upcoming election.

1. A united front to form a government

2. A coordinated effort between GRS and PH to avoid overlapping candidates.

3. A “free-for-all” situation where all parties contest independently.

Kalakau explained that Scenario 3 will be towards an electoral understanding among local based parties where a loose understanding to not spoiling and  waste   resourcess of party.

Certainly there are parties clearly stronger above the rest but open to greater possible ways and means to strengthen their understanding to achieve  a common agenda.

“This scenario will be in a situation where there will be a break-up GRS .This is where à new opening for possible political reforms in Sabah,”  he added.

“I am also optimistic that GRS and PH will collaborate but  some clashes in certain constituencies are inevitable due to Sabah’s unique political dynamics,” Kalakau said.

He also described Dr Jeffrey’s action as having  taken the bull by the horn , both in formula and practicality.

“By now, all the like-minded leaders should have an opened link to Dr Jeffrey.”

“By then, Sabahans at large have a clearer picture to expect during the upcoming PRN17,”  Kalakau added.

He also pointed out that Sabahans political experiences of the past is key to future option.

“It isn’t easy but nothing happens  unless first a dream. Now is the time to realise it.

The Sarawak’s political module is perhaps what Sabahans should emulate .

He said Sabaans has nothing to lose but surely be more pragmatic to the the spirit of Malaysia Agreement 1963.

This is where the role of Gen Y and Z  to come into play to ensure their meaningful participation in chatting Sabah’s  future in the Federation.
