KIULU : – Datuk Joniston Bangkuai has encouraged higher learning institution (IPT) students from Kiulu to establish a student club as a platform for as cha leadership and community-based activities.
The Kiulu assemblyman said that such a club would strengthen relationships among students and serve as a channel for closer engagement with Kiulu’s leadership.
“I believe that IPT students from Kiulu have great potential to contribute to the development of their community.
“With this Kiulu IPT Student Club, they can organise meaningful programs that will benefit not just themselves but also society,” he said during a recent meeting with IPT students.
Joniston also pledged his support for the club’s activities and expressed his readiness to assist as needed.
His suggestion was well received by a group of IPT students led by Christella Moureen Yain, a final-semester student pursuing a law degree at Universiti Utara Malaysia.
She also expressed their commitment to forming a pro tem committee for the club.
“I believe that with the establishment of this club, as encouraged by Datuk Joniston, we can play a more active role in contributing to the development of Kiulu,” she said.
As part of his youth development commitment, Joniston announced an RM50,000 fund earlier this year to support youth activities in the Kiulu constituency.m
Meanwhile, Joniston attended two youth programs organised by the Seventh Day Adventist Church last weekend, where he emphasised the importance of leadership and discipline among young people.
The programs allowed him to engage with Generation Y youths and share his views on leadership development.
“To shape good leaders, discipline and leadership values must be nurtured early.
“Youths must continuously strive to improve their skills and set a positive example in society,” he said.
