Masidi Manjun…government to provide up to RM10,000 coverage and death benefit under three-year protection plan.

KOTA KINABALU : – The Sabah government has approved a free personal accident insurance scheme for all eligible residents in the state, benefiting an estimated 3.5 million people.

Finance Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said the state Cabinet endorsed the group insurance programme, which will offer automatic protection to Sabahans aged between one month and 80 years.

“This initiative reflects our commitment to the people’s welfare and aims to ease the financial burden, especially among the B40 group,” he said in  a statement today.

The plan will be implemented through Progressive Insurance Bhd, a state-owned company. Under the scheme, each qualified individual will receive up to RM10,000 in personal accident coverage, along with a RM500 death benefit.

Masidi said the three-year protection scheme will take effect from May 1, 2025, until April 30, 2028.

Insurance claims will be processed within 14 to 30 days upon submission of complete documents.
