Jannie Lasimbang…will continue to support in terms of policy and resources.
PENAMPANG : – Assemblywoman for Kapayan Jannie Lasimbang said the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) and the Urban Community Development Committee (JKDB) are strategic partners in managing and developing villages, housing estates, and commercial areas.

In an official meeting with all JKKK and JKDB Chairpersons in Balai Raya Kg. Koidupan; yesterday, Jannie stated that both entities play a vital role as bridges between the people and the government, acting as frontliners in delivering information, aid, and support to the community.
“JKKK and JKDB are my working partners in ensuring local issues are effectively resolved,” she said.
To strengthen their roles, Jannie announced an allocation of RM1,000 to each JKKK and JKDB to carry out small-scale activities in their respective areas.
A special fund of RM25,000 was also set aside for urgent clean-up efforts that require special equipment or machinery, such as grass cutting or drainage cleaning.
Jannie further stressed her commitment to continue fighting for increased allocations and welfare for the JKKK and JKDB.
“I will continue to push the government to increase meeting allowances and to ensure consistent payments. The salary of Village Chiefs has already been raised; the JKKK allowances also need to be reviewed and increased to match the responsibilities they carry,” she said.
She expressed hope that all JKKK and JKDB in the Kapayan constituency would continue to serve with high commitment for the wellbeing of Kapayan residents.
The meeting also focused on safety and squatter settlement issues.
A total of 12 squatter areas were identified in Penampang, with concerns over smuggling of illegal goods and open sales of radioactive waste. Strict monitoring by JKKK and related agencies will be implemented to address the risks to community safety.
“Your role is important. I will continue to support you in terms of policy and resources,” she concluded.
UPPM Kapayan was also present at the meeting, playing an active role in the discussions.
