Sustainable Tourism and Conservation Efforts in Kinabatangan Remain KiTA’s Core Focus

SANDAKAN : – The Kinabatangan Corridor of Life Tourism Operators Association, Sabah (KiTA) remains steadfast in its mission to champion sustainable tourism and conservation efforts in the Kinabatangan region.

This commitment was reinforced during its 15th Annual General Meeting (AGM) and 35th Exco Meeting, where members gathered to reflect on past achievements and map out future initiatives.

The meeting also marked a leadership transition, with the introduction of the new KiTA Committee for the 2025–2026 term.

The new line-up is as follows:
• President: Lim Tsung @ Johnny
• Immediate Past President: Alexander Yee Kok Tsen
• Deputy President: Rory Lewis Mckenzie
• Treasurer: Amy Chin
• Secretary:  Sulinah Tan
• Committee Member : Fernando R
• Committee Member: Yanti Awang

In his address, the newly appointed President, Johnny, expressed heartfelt appreciation for the trust and support shown by KiTA members.

“I’m truly thankful for the opportunity to serve. I believe with teamwork and shared vision, we can achieve great things for Kinabatangan,” he said.

He also emphasized KiTA’s upcoming projects, one of which includes a river clean-up initiative in collaboration with the local community.

“This is just one of several community-driven efforts we’re planning to strengthen environmental stewardship and promote sustainable practices in our region,” he added.

Johnny also paid tribute to his predecessor, Alexander, acknowledging his dedication and leadership.

“On behalf of KiTA, I would like to thank Alexander for setting the direction and for his steadfast leadership. We value and appreciate him, and we’re grateful that he will continue contributing as our Immediate Past President,” he said.

During the AGM, members discussed key strategies for expanding engagement and building stronger ties with stakeholders. One of the resolutions is to conduct courtesy visits to relevant government agencies to foster partnerships that support conservation, tourism, and community development in Kinabatangan.

KiTA remains committed to being a platform that unites tourism players, local communities, and conservation advocates to ensure that Kinabatangan continues to thrive as a model for sustainable tourism in Sabah.
