Jordan…Sabah only progressed under UMNO is an insult to Sabahans.
KOTA KINABALU : – Sabah Umno Chief Datuk Bung Moktar Radin claimed Sabah was politically unstable and economically stagnant before 1994.
Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR Sabah) Wiramuda chief Jordan Jude Ellron said it’s a
disgraceful remark.
“Not only is it inaccurate but dangerous. It attempts to rewrite Sabah’s history to justify continued federal control, ” he said in a statement today.
Jordan pointed out that in truth, the real reason for Sabah’s slow development was not local disunity.
It was federal interference. It was the siphoning of our resources.
It was the failure to honour the Malaysia Agreement 1963, *replaced instead by a divide and rule policy that kept Sabah weak and dependent*.
And most of all, it was the political betrayal of 1994, when the people voted for PBS and UMNO took power through orchestrated defections.
“To say Sabah only progressed under UMNO is to insult the generations of Sabahans who built this state with resilience, without the benefit of fair treatment or equal revenue.”
“Even today, Sabah remains one of the poorest states in the country. Who can deny that this shameful title is the legacy of policies made in Putrajaya and not in Kota Kinabalu?,” Jordan added.
This is why the cry of “Sabah for Sabahans” was born. It is not a slogan. It is a stand. It is a response to decades of neglect. It is a call to reclaim dignity and to shape a future guided by Sabahan hands.
Jordon said for years, STAR president Datuk Seri Panglima Dr Jeffrey Kitingan stood firm on this message.
“Today, that message has grown into a movement. It is no longer just STAR’s cause. It is the call of many local parties.”
And it has rattled those who prefer a Sabah that stays quiet and obedient.
Even Umno President Dato Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has pointed fingers at Jeffrey, accusing him of fuelling this sentiment.
“That only proves its power. We as STAR members wear that accusation with pride. If fighting for our state’s rights makes us guilty, then we are proud to be guilty, ” Jordan said.
He added, “We reject any attempt to reintroduce Malaya-based parties as Sabah’s solution.”
“Whether Umno, PKR, Bersatu, or DAP, the result is always the same. Sabah is used then sidelined. Instead.”
“Sabahans must lead Sabah. Full stop.”
Jordan further pointed out that true unity is not built by bowing to external forces.
“It is built when Sabahans come together regardless of party to demand what is ours. Our 40 percent, our autonomy and most importantly, our future.”
“We will work with any leader who shares this mission. But we will not stand with those who insult our past and diminish our right to decide our own destiny.”
“Sabah is not a failure. Sabah was failed. We will not be failed again,” he said.
