The Communications Minister tops party leadership vote as Maszlee, Adam Adli and others join revamped line-up for 2025–2028 term.
JOHOR BAHRU : – Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) information chief Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, who also serves as Communications Minister, is among several new faces elected to the party’s Central Leadership Council (MPP) for the 2025–2028 term.
Fahmi led the field with 4,811 votes, followed closely by PKR Youth chief Adam Adli Abdul Halim (4,798), Prime Minister’s political secretary Chan Ming Kai (4,753), Sentosa assemblyman Dr Gunaraj George (4,699), and Perak PKR secretary Mohd Azlan Helmi, who also received 4,699 votes.
Other new additions to the MPP include former Simpang Renggam MP Dr Maszlee Malik, former Johor Bahru branch chief Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir, former Merbok MP Nurin Aina Abdullah, Ampang branch chief Syed Ahmad Syed Abdul Rahman, and Ledang MP Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh.
The official results were announced by Central Election Committee chair Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa during the 2024/2025 PKR National Congress at the Persada International Convention Centre here this evening.
Also elected to the MPP for the upcoming term are G. Sivamalar, Sim Chon Siang, A. Kumaresan, Azmi Karap, Lee Chean Chung, Amidi Abdul Manan, Siti Aishah Shaik Ismail, Abang Zulkiflee Abang Engkeh, Elizabeth Wong Keat Ping, and Goh Choon Aik.
Meanwhile, PKR Women’s chief and Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek successfully defended her post against a challenge from Ampang MP Rodziah Ismail.
This year’s party election saw 251 candidates contesting for positions across the three main bodies: 104 for the Central Leadership Council, 85 for the Youth Wing (AMK), and 62 for Women’s Wing. – Scoop com
