Sabah on the right track

Goh…Hajiji and his team deserve a strong mandate from the people at the upcoming state election.

KOTA KINABNALU : – The Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS)-led state government’s capability in managing Sabah’s economy in the last few years has been exceptionally impressive and surpassed expectations.

Prominent businessman Tan Sri TC Goh says ensuring stability and economic progress had been the elemental cornerstone of the government’s policy.

And, he adds that safeguarding the people’s welfare is also a top priority of the government under the stewardship of Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor.

It was recently unveiled by the Chief Minister that state revenue for three consecutive years – 2022, 2023 and 2024 – amounted to almost RM7 billion compared to RM3.5 billion in 2020.

And one of the key achievements, he said, was the significant rise in Sabah’s GDP (gross domestic product) from RM83.2 billion in 2023 to RM84.3 billion last year.

He also revealed that the state government’s reserves now stood at RM8.6 billion.

According to Goh, the increase in state revenue and stronger GDP are indicators of a healthy economy as well as proving that the GRS-led government is capable of managing the state.

He also explains that economic growth has a positive impact on income and employment rates which in turn raise the standard of living.

And stability, he says, has boosted investor confidence.

“As such, the Chief Minister and his team deserve a strong mandate from the people at the upcoming state election.

“This is absolutely vital to bring about continued stability which not only allows for effective governance but also necessary for societal cohesion,” he points out.

Goh who is also a member of the Sabah Economic Advisory Council (SEAC) says he is confident that Chief Minister and his team can bring Sabah to even greater heights in the next five years.
