SANDAKAN : – St Michael Secondary School, one of the oldest schools in Sandakan, has been allocated RM105,000 in federal grants for the maintenance and upgrading of its facilities.
The school’s management board chairman, Thomas Lau Chi Keong, received RM55,000 from Deputy Minister of Education Wong Kah Woh during a ceremony held recently at the school premises.
Following an additional request from the school, the Deputy Minister approved a further RM50,000, bringing the total grant to RM105,000.
The mock cheque presentation was witnessed by Sandakan MP Vivian Wong Shir Yee, alongside members of the school’s board management and principal Felicia Michael Asang.
Expressing his gratitude, Lau said, “On behalf of the school board, I extend our sincere appreciation to the Federal Government for this financial assistance. Over the years, grants from both the Federal and State Governments have enabled us to carry out essential repairs and maintenance, ensuring a conducive learning environment for our students.”
Lau also acknowledged the collaborative efforts of the school management board, Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), and alumni association in securing additional funds for infrastructure upkeep.
