Frankie Poon, Liau Fui Fui quit DAP, take 2 Sabah branches with them

SANDAKAN : – Former Sabah DAP chief and Tanjung Papat incumbent assemblyman Datuk Frankie Poon quit the party today, taking with him two party branches under his leadership.

He was joined in the decision by Liau Fui Fui, the party’s former secretary for organisational affairs in Sabah.

In a joint statement, the duo said the decision was made after careful consideration of recent internal developments within the party.

“We hereby officially announce our decision to leave the DAP along with two divisions under our leadership.

“This decision was not made hastily, but after carefully evaluating recent internal developments within the party.

“We have observed implicit actions by certain party leaders suggesting a hidden agenda to replace the current leadership in Tanjung Papat without any formal discussion or consultation,” they said.

They said DAP Sabah’s focus on younger leaders had sidelined veteran and senior members who had long contributed to the party.

“This shows a lack of appreciation for senior members who have dedicated years of service.

“In any organisation, leadership must be balanced across all levels to ensure harmonious and inclusive growth,” they said.

The pair said their years of service to the party and the public had shaped their decision, but when values such as honesty, respect and teamwork are no longer upheld, leaving the party became necessary.

“While this decision is difficult, it is made to uphold our principles and the trust of the people.

“Our service to the community will continue.”

They said that they would continue their work independently of DAP’s structure.

“We will continue to serve the people with sincerity, commitment and courage.

“Political platforms may change, but our dedication to serving the people remains the priority.”
