EQ manifests in speaking with forked tongues behind smiles concealing daggers

SOME years ago I learnt what was then new to be the term ‘double speak’ and this seemingly sophisticated ‘strategic ambiguity’.

They were intriguing.

Along the way of always seeking to improve my command of English usage to help my journalism career, I also got wind of something called ‘EQ’ (emotional intelligence’) .

That was before I understood ‘intelligence’ and the IQ (I telligence quotient) mumbo jumbo.

As my cynicism viscosity got worse with age, I’ve dismissed EQ as simply the ability in speaking not what you mean but more to please.

EQ manifests in speaking with forked tongues behind smiles concealing daggers.

Habitual hypocrites have high EQ. In an ideal world, EQ is evil in fine drapes.

But we are not in such a world.

EQ is an essential survival skill which, paradoxically, isn’t taught in school.

Maybe EQ is one of the skills that can’t be taught but can only be caught.

The Japanese just passed off China by a thinly veiled warning that her country would stand up for Taiwan if China showed any aggression.

Hers was either a case of any Q.

She just wanted to annoy China, plucking at a tiger’s whiskers, if I may.

While her end game is a subject of speculation, her infuriating statement was a repeat of decades of countries exploiting their strategic ambiguity on Taiwan.

Taiwan is a Chinese province.

Only geopolitical hypocrites find it amgigioys. The UN recognises it.

Taiwan, colonised for decades by Japan, can’t even identify itself as Taiwan.

It is Chinese Taipei in ternational sporting events. It doesn’t have a seat in the UN.

Of about 200 countries in the world, only a handful have diplomatic ties with Taiwan, and they don’t include Japan and the US, the two most sympathetic towards the island.

Talking about hypocrisy and ambiguity over the Taiwan question, the US is the most disgusting.

I remember reading about the IS being to proposer for China’s UN membership after WW2.

That was about the same time when Japan surrendered the Taiwan colony and an international treaty formalised the return of Taiwan under Chinese soveregnity.

The UN recognises one China.

But being the biggest hypocrite in the world, it idly watches the US and its allies selling weapons to Taiwan, not subtly backing Taiwan’s separatism movements, and openly  opposing any military moves towards unification.

China has never been vague about getting Taiwan under Beijing.

But the twisted international community of nations somehow found some elements of ambiguity.

They have their own version of truth.

I thought truth is universal. If something is the truth. It is THE truth.

No? There were two genders. That’s the truth. But now we’ve been told their is more than two.

A certain nuncompoop Prince from the land of the Setting sun has been going around with his x-rated wife on toxic steroids pontificating about ‘my truth’, and a certain Trump has been trumpeting his ‘alternative truth’.

It’s bizzare
