Exciting News for the KDM Communities! – James Ligunjang

PENAMPANG : – A social activist today described the Sabah Government’s RM5 million allocation for this year’s Pesta Kaamatan a first time in the history of KadazanDusun Cultural Association (KDCA).

Datuk James Ligunjang said the funding not only acknowledges the KDCA’s vital role in preserving native communities culture but also fosters harmonious coexistence among the diverse races in Sabah.

“The allocation will enable the KDCA to showcase the richness of our culture to the world, enhancing the Kaamatan Festival’s longstanding appeal to tourists visiting Sabah,” he said in a statement today.

James, former assemblyman for Petagas, said the KDM communities should take pride in the recognition that KDCA has received through this generous grant from the State Government.

The allocation was announced by Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Dr Jeffrey Kitingan, who is also State-level Kaamatan Main Organising Committee chairman, during a meeting at Wisma Pertanian on Thursday.

Dr Jeffery, who is also KDCA Deputy President, said Tambunan had been selected as the host for the festival’s official opening.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will once again be invited to officiate the festival’s closing ceremony at Hongkod Koisaan, the KDCA Hall at Penampang.
