Leaders, who once “thrived” within BN, attempts “to erase” BN in Sabah

Salleh…by weakening BN, they hope their party will rise.

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN) treasurer, Datuk Seri Panglima Dr Salleh Said Keruak, revealed that there have been attempts to eliminate BN from Sabah by leaders who, according to him, once “thrived” within BN.

Ironically, he said that these leaders themselves rose to prominence because of BN, yet today they seek to erase the BN name.

“Why are they doing this? Because BN remains the main competitor. By weakening BN, they hope their party will rise.

“However, the reality is that BN has long established its presence in Sabah. BN has weathered many political waves and continues to endure,” he mentioned in his latest Facebook post.

The former Chief Minister of Sabah noted that new parties may not necessarily achieve better results.

“Many local parties eventually lose influence because their struggles are not sustained. When leaders are absent, the party begins to fade away.

“BN, on the other hand, is not easily diminished. Its divisions, branches, and loyal supporters are spread throughout the state. This is the true strength of BN that cannot be undermined,” he stated.

Salleh, who is also the Assemblyman for Usukan, remarked that the 2020 state election (PRN) proved this point.

He said BN still managed to win 14 DUN seats despite the political wave of 2018.

“The people still miss BN. BN as a party is not at fault. If there are weaknesses, they stem from a few leaders.

“BN has already contributed and proven to provide the best service to the people.

“Joining BN does not mean we lose our Sabahan identity. We are still Sabahan, our identity cards have the letter ‘H’, and our struggle remains for the people of Sabah first,” he stated.

For this reason, Salleh emphasized the need for BN to involve the youth so they understand and continue the struggle, ensuring that the DNA of BN remains alive.

Salleh concluded that attempts to eliminate BN are merely the dreams of a few individuals.

“BN will not disappear from the land of Sabah. Loyal supporters will remain, and BN will continue to be a part of the history and future of the politics in this state,” he said.
