Avoid vote fragmentation for the opposition parties in Kiulu – Henry Saimpon

TUARAN : – The division of votes among opposition parties will only benefit the ruling party, Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS), in the 17th state election (PRN) in the Kiulu state constituency, said KDM Vice President Henry Saimpon.

He said that regardless of the strength of the opposition bloc in Kiulu, they may struggle to capture the stronghold seat held by PBS, which is part of GRS, if the opposition votes are split.

Therefore, Henry, who is also the Chief Coordinator of KDM Kiulu, urges Kiulu voters to wisely consolidate their support and give the local KDM party a chance to compete against GRS (PBS) this time.

“KDM welcomes any opposition party to contest, promoting democratic practices in Kiulu.

“However, Kiulu voters must be cautious and should avoid vote fragmentation as seen in several previous PRNs, which would easily contribute to a victory for the incumbent (PBS).

“A similar situation may occur if the opposition bloc voters do not ‘misompuru’ (unite). As the saying goes, ‘United we stand, divided we fall,'” he said.

Henry made these remarks after meeting with the KDM women’s machinery in Kg Tompinahaton, near here on Friday.

Also present were KDM Kiulu Deputy Coordinators Joluin Jairuh and Saimon Yagul.

Thus, he hopes the people of Kiulu, especially the opposition bloc voters, will not waste their votes and ensure that there is no vote fragmentation that ultimately harms all parties within the opposition bloc.

“The previous vote fragmentation among the opposition bloc in Kiulu should serve as a lesson to unite in the upcoming PRN.

“In this regard, KDM, which is contesting in DUN Kiulu for the first time, sincerely hopes for the “understanding” of voters to support KDM this time,” he said.

Meanwhile, Henry urged the KDM Kiulu election machinery to strengthen their preparations and work diligently to secure victory for the candidate in the upcoming state election.

It has been reported that, in addition to KDM and GRS, the Warisan party and the Sabah Dream Party are also mentioned as potential candidates for the DUN Kiulu.

There are also rumours predicting that UPKO (PH) will field a candidate using its own logo in Kiulu.
