
KOTA KINABALU : – Lewis Wong was unanimously retained as president of the Sabah Chinese Cultural Association (PKCS).
The businessman won the post uncontested during the association’s Annual General Meeting and Election of the new Central Committee here recently.
Lewis was unanimously supported by all central delegates to continue leading the association for another term.
The AGM was attended by delegates from Kota Kinabalu, Tawau and Penampang branches.
After the AGM and election of central committee members, they discussed the annual activity plan and organisational policies in depth.
The newly elected committee also formulated a future development plan for the association.
In his speech, Lewis recalled the association’s development journey since its establishment in 1980.
He stressed that PKCS has always adhered to the mission of inheriting and developing Chinese culture.
“At the same time actively promotes cultural exchanges and cooperation between multi-ethnic organizations in Sabah, ” he said.
Lewis stressed that the superior traditional Chinese cultural heritage has an inclusive and friendly nature, able to coexist harmoniously with different and complementary ethnic culturesin the country
” This is a spiritual wealth that we all cherished together in a pluralistic society, ” he added.
Going forward, Lewis stated that PKCS will continue to adhere to the basic purpose of its establishment.
- To continue the association’s affairs based on existing achievements, deepen cultural inheritance work.
- strengthen inter-ethnic dialogue, and strive to build a more united, harmonious and prosperous Sabah society.
Lewis further pointed out that the annual general meeting not only strengthened the association’s organisational structure, but also consolidates understanding.
“It also injected new energy for the continued prosperity of diverse cultures in Sabah, ” he said.
