KOTA KINABALU: The State Government will continue to support and encourage the development and growth of all cultural activities in the state, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Haji Hajiji Haji Noor.
“The State Government will continue to encourage each ethnic group in Sabah to protect their respective cultural heritage and in doing so this will promote racial and cultural tolerance, ” he said at the launching of the 2024 Chinese New Year Carnival at Lintasan Deasoka here tonight.
His speech was read by Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Christina Liew.
Hajiji hoped all celebrating the Lunar New Year will embrace the qualities of the dragon according to the Chinese zodiac – bravery, success and prosperity.
At the same time, the Chief Minister reiterated his call for the Chinese community to be partners of progress and work together with the government to develop the state.
“I am confident that with the support from the rakyat, specifically the Chinese community, this will complement the government’s efforts to boost the state’s economy,” he said.
Hajiji also commended the joint organiser, the Federation of Chinese Associations Sabah (FCAS) and the Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK) for successfully organising the 2024 Chinese New Year Carnival. – Talantang
