ESSCOM seized over RM4.1 million worth of cigarettes and tobacco

LAHAD DATU: The Eastern Sabah Security Command (ESSCOM) conducted a raid on a two-storey building on Jalan Tamoi Baru, resulting in the seizure of white cigarettes, kretek, and tobacco worth RM4.1 million.

ESSCOM Commander, Datuk Victor Sanjos, said that the raid was carried out based on public information regarding cigarette smuggling.

The seizure included over 3 million various types of white and kretek cigarettes, as well as 400 small packages of tobacco, he said in a statememt here Friday.

Victor emphasized that this successful operation demonstrates ESSCOM’s dedication to reducing Cross-Border Crimes (JRS).

He assured the public that ESSCOM will continue to monitor and intensify special operations to track foreign elements that may disrupt security and peace in the East Sabah coast.

Victor encouraged the public to report any suspicious information directly to the ESSCOM Operations Center or via WhatsApp.

Additionally, ESSCOM will enhance coordination with other security forces to apprehend individuals with malicious intent and safeguard national security.

ESSCOM remains committed to assisting Federal and State Enforcement Agencies in combating JRS elements, such as sea piracy activities and contraband smuggling, through integrated operations in land areas and the Eastern Sabah Security Zone (ESSZONE), he said.
