INANAM: Six families in Kampung Dambai, here, whose houses were razed to the ground last month received assistance from Charity International (CARITAS) of the St Catherine’s Church) Inanam Parish.
Led by its chairperson Flora Sallemuda, the fire victims received foods packages, clothing and cash.
The fire on March 1, 2024 completely destroyed six houses. However, there was no casualty reported.
The victims were temporarily put up at the Dambai Community Hall, and some stayed with their relatives in the villages nearby while waiting to get new houses.
According to Flora, this was not their first activity as they had been visiting, giving aids to parishioners in need and those indisposed.
“It is an ordered service to the community,” Flora told Catholic Sabah.
Also present during the handing over of assistance was St Mary’s Chapel Catholic Community Committee chairperson Alice Dosis William.
The victims are regulars at the chapel’s Sunday mass.
