KOTA KINABALU: Senator Tan Sri Anifah Aman announced that his Parti Cinta Sabah (PCS) has been accepted in the ruling Gabungn Rakyat Sabah (GRS) coalition.
” I am pleased to announce that PCS has been accepted in the GRS coalition, ” he said in a statement on Wednesday.
GRS now comprises an alliance of eight parties: Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah, USNO, Parti Bersatu Sabah, Liberal Democratic Party, Sabah Progressive Party, Parti Harapan Rakyat Sabah, Sabah Star, and Parti Cinta Sabah.
Anifah became president of PCS on July 26, 2020, following his departure from Umno in 2018.
” On behalf of our party leaders and supporters, I express my highest gratitude to GRS Chairman cum Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hj Hajiji Hj Noor and all coalition leaders for accepting PCS into the GRS family,” Anifah added.
” As the saying goes, a family that eats together, stays together. On this common table, PCS shares the same vision and mission with the GRS for Sabah and the people, ” the Senator said.
After all, we are a local Sabah party and naturally, we see our home in the GRS which is a truly local entity that Sabahans have long envisioned for.
The former Foreign Minister said as a local Sabah political party, it is in the PCS political DNA to champion Sabah’s rights and the best interest of the state and the people.
And for this, he said PCS share the GRS’ “Sabah First” core, which is a two-pronged approach that puts the rights and interests of Sabah as the top priorities and places importance on the various developments needed in Sabah.
He also stressed that PCS also shares the GRS’ commitment to strengthening Sabah’s push for local agendas on the national, regional and international level.
It is PCS bigger responsibility to place the fight for the state’s interests as our number one priority.
” PCS has been a relatively new party from the time I took over leadership about four years ago. During this period, the party has grown in strength, wisdom, and maturity.”
“Our party leaders and members comprise of people from all walks of life, all of whom are driven by a genuine love for our beloved Sabah, hence the name of our party,” he said.
Anifah said the wealth of experience, knowledge, and skills the leaders bring to PCS is priceless as the party strive to make a difference to the lives of the people of Sabah, which is also the highest aim of the GRS.
” I assure that PCS will work hard to ensure that the GRS will continue to strengthen its position as the political power bloc that Sabahans of all ethnicities and beliefs can identity themselves with; a force that they can put their faith and hope for generations to come,” he said.
” Lastly, I recall the words of our Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hj Hajiji Hj Noor “Rumah Kita, Kitalah Yang Jaga” (We take care of our own house). For most Sabahans, his words give us goosebumps because they speak our hearts. For PCS, being accepted into the GRS family makes us feel like a coming home. And we shall take care of this house because this is our HOME,” Anifah added.
During the general election in 2022, Anifah endorsed Pakatan Harapan chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as Prime Minister during the campaign.
Following the PH election victory, Anifah was made a Senator.
He had also been appointed by the Sabah government to become the chairman of Invest Sabah Bhd, Labuan Corporation and made the special advisor to the chief minister of Sabah on international relations and foreign investments.
