Miss World 2023 Krystyna Pyszková, Joniston joins Pantai Dalit beach clean-up

TUARAN: A total of 402 kg of trash was collected from Pantai Dalit beach during a collective beach clean-up event featuring Miss World 2023, Krystyna Pyszková, on Sunday.

The clean-up saw Sail Malaysia participants picking up trash in the morning and local community members in the afternoon, with Pyszková participating.

Assistant Tourism, Culture, and Environment Minister Datuk Joniston Bangkuai joined the afternoon session alongside Unduk Ngadau 2024 winner Hyellene Danius and runner-up Elldiwirna Saimen.

Sail Malaysia, Shangri-la Rasa Ria Resort, and Discover Sabah Digital co-organised the event in collaboration with the Miss World Malaysia Organisation.

Present were Sail Malaysia managing director, Sazli Kama Basha; Sail Malaysia Tuaran Rally chairman, Datuk Mohd Pintaz Badar; Miss World Organisation CEO and chairman, Julia Morley CBE; Miss World Malaysia National Director, Dr. Sean Wong; and KDCA Women’s Council chairperson, Joanna Kitingan.

Praising the participants, Joniston said it was inspiring to see such commitment to keeping the beaches clean, especially with the involvement of international participants and global figure like Pyszková.

“This highlights the importance of environmental conservation globally. Cleaning up our beaches is crucial not just for our enjoyment but for protecting marine life and preventing pollution.

“Pantai Dalit is a popular tourist spot, and maintaining its cleanliness ensures a positive experience for visitors and supports our community,” he said.

Meanwhile, Pyszková emphasised the importance of education and awareness in tackling global pollution and waste issues.

“I’m happy to be here for such an important cause,” she said.

“Starting with community involvement, even on a small scale, can make a significant difference. It’s essential to begin somewhere and inspire others to take action.”
