Dr Kanul Gindol joins Parti Kerjasama Anak Negeri

Dr Kanul Gindol submitted his application to join Parti Kerjasama Anak Negeri to the President, Datuk Henrynus Amin.

KOTA KINABALU : – Dr Kanul Gindol, a local NGO activist, who recently received his PhD (Political Science) from Wilmington Metropolitan University, has joined Parti Kerjasama Anak Negeri (Anak Negeri) as an ordinary member.

Parti Kerjasama Anak Negeri’s president, Datuk Henrynus Amin, confirmed that Dr Kanul has applied to join Anak Negeri early last month and his application was approved by the Supreme Council on 31 July 2024.

“We welcomed him with an opened arms to be a fellow member and join the Anak Negeri leadership team,”  Henrynus said in a statement Wednesday.

“We are fully aware of Dr Kanul’s activities as an activist, and we appreciate his contribution to the people of Sabah through his writings on local and national issues.”

“We are happy to offer Dr Kanul a new political platform for him to continue his political struggle to fight for the people of Sabah.”

“We had a long heart to heart discussion about the party’s political vision, goals and strategies.”

He said, Dr Kanul, a former national news agency journalist who is from Kota Belud, fully subscribed to the party’s five-point political agenda which are:

1. To fight for the unity, equality and dignity of the people of Sabah regardless of race and religion.
2. To ensure a cordial state federal relation based on shared values, common political vision for Malaysia, commitment to human rights and democratic principles and also state rights as enshrined in MA63 and the Federal Constitution.
3. To ensure the Federal Government honour their constitutional security obligation to Sabah to help resolve the problems related to huge presence of transient population
4. To eradicate rural poverty, reduce youth unemployment and develop Sabah’s economy, social services and infrastructure to be at par with states in West Malaysia and also to create business and employment opportunities for people of Sabah in every sector of the economy.
5. To promote and ensure good governance, transparency and respect for the fundamental human rights on the freedom of religion

He said Dr Kanul has been appointed Anak Negeri zone leader for Kota Belud and the northern zone where will be establishing party branches, carry out membership drive and organise party activities.

Henrynus also said Anak Negeri welcomes anyone from Sabah who are interested and who fully subscribes to the party’s political vision, goals and objectives to join the party and help to contribute to nation building as an opposition political party.

Meanwhile, speaking to talantang.com Dr Kanul said,” I joined Anak Negeri with the understanding that I shall help the team to revitalise the party.”

Prior to joining Anak Negeri, Dr Kanul had politically worked with Parti Sedar Rakyat and then Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat.

“I may work with them again at local level in Kota Belud as my new Party sees it fit.”

“My message will be “kerjasama” (co-operation) among the indigenous, as the name of the Party indicates, ” Dr Kanul said.
