SANDAKAN : – – The Action Research Seminar for Form Six teachers in the Sandakan Zone concluded successfully at SRK Sung Siew’s Mini Theater.
Organized by the Sandakan District Education Office in collaboration with SMK Elopura’s Unit STPM, the seminar gathered educators from Sandakan, Kinabatangan, Telupid, Pamol, Bukit Garam, and Penangah.
The seminar was inaugurated by Hajjah Munah binti Haji Nasri, Sandakan District Education Officer, who encouraged teachers to continue engaging in research to enhance teaching practices and improve students’ academic performance.
Eleven teachers from various subjects presented their action research findings, with highlights including the presentations by Haji Amit bin Awang from Kolej Tingkatan Enam Datuk Pengiran Galpam and Ruhana from SMK Beluran, who won the Gold Award for her outstanding research.
Connie Ng from SMK Elopura took home the prestigious Platinum Award for her exemplary work.
The event was not only a platform for sharing effective teaching methods but also for fostering collaboration among Form Six teachers across the zone.
Cheong Bo Yuk expressed their gratitude to SRK Sung Siew for providing the venue and were thrilled by the support from the local community and sponsors, such as Persatuan Hockien Sandakan and Syarikat Teck Guan Sdn. Bhd.
The success of this seminar sets a positive precedent for future research-focused events, with hopes that it will become an annual tradition.
Plans are already underway for next year’s seminar, which will likely be hosted by another school in the district, continuing the momentum for professional development in teaching and learning.
